Three simple questions to people largely come to social networks that have allowed me to recount, to discover these obscure, hidden and often out of town spots that respond to the name of Motel.
Intimacy, fears and dreadful fantasies for some reason unexpressed, now lit by the neon and reflected in the mirrors of the rooms.
Lights and shadows, poles, handcuffs and closed circuit cameras, every room is different, and every single room is a new microcosm.
From north to south of Italy, with the differences between places, people and cultures, but once the door is closed, external noises are lost and daily routine disappear.
The AGIP Motels which were created in the 60s were the first example in Italy of a refuge for travelers. Today, however, they no longer exist other than a few remains in total abandonment.
They recall the American ideology of an antiseptic and informal rest stop.
By now, this image has disappeared, and today motels have fallen prey to designers and architects, who are inspired by the actual perversion enthusiasm and by the desire to escape the daily routine; others have become real hotels, despite the fact that they have maintained the «Day Use» formula.
